Week 1: Tuesday 9/15-Friday 9/18
Tuesday 9/15We will preview Kurt Vonnegut's Shapes of Stories and graph our own favorite stories! HW is to Read & Annotate "Superman and Me" by Sherman Alexie

Wednesday 9/16Today, we will look at the common app essay prompts for this year and brainstorm our responses as well as practice writing very, very short stories.

Thursday 9/17We will discuss how to analyze a good essay, which we will use with our model essays by famous authors as well as sample college essays.

Friday 9/18We will have a discussion about the short essay/story "Superman and Me" by Sherman Alexie with a particular emphasis on structure, style & purpose.

Week 2: Monday 9/21-Friday 9/25
Monday 9/21We will share our ideas for our college essays and then critique a sample college essay.

Tuesday 9/22We will critique sample college essays, and begin to brainstorm our won.

Wednesday 9/23Today, we will review the difference between figurative & literal language and translate from one to another.

Thursday 9/24-Friday 9/25For two days, we'll work on the Rough Drafts of our college essays, which are due on Monday!
