Unit Description
The Roaring Twenties was a time of restlessness, defiance, and change. World War I had hurried society into the Modern World, and the art and literature of the time reflect that profound psychological shift. In the Great Gatsby, we will explore the notion of the American Dream in depth: in particular, who has access to it and how to distinguish its appearance versus its reality. We will end our study of this text through a critical analysis to connect back to our essential understandings from our First Unit.
